Join Rick Jali for a special slideshow through South India. (No Taj Mahal, Himalaya, or Ghats on the Ganges… That’s North India!)

See Hyderabad, Mysore, Bangalore, Madras, Madurai, Pomdicherry, and other seldom seen sights as Rick travels south to Kerala. Meet Rick’s pen-pal Thomas, a young South Indian man (and good basketball player) who was studying for the Catholic priesthood and who invited Rick to attend his Ordination.

$60 Donations Sought to Sponsor Volunteer Tax Aides

The Eastern Sierra College Center of Cerro Coso Community College is proud to announce our recent collaboration with the IRS and AARP to provide free tax assistance and preparation for Inyo-Mono county taxpayers with low and middle-income, with special attention to individuals age 60 and over and individuals with disabilities.

Tremendous training, materials and computer facilities are provided by Cerro Coso, the IRS and AARP and we are seeking your support to sponsor the 20 volunteers. For only $60 you can support the costs of training one volunteer, who would provide free tax assistance and preparation for our community members, such as your friends, neighbors, employees and others.

Each tax season, our volunteers provide nearly 5,000 hours of volunteer service. Last year in Inyo and Mono counties our volunteers assisted nearly 600 taxpayers, filing nearly 1,000 returns. This long-standing IRS – AARP program has been in existence since 1969.

If you are interested in donating $60 to support one of our twenty volunteers, please contact Deanna Campbell, Director, Eastern Sierra College Center, Cerro Coso Community College, at 924-1607 or 872-5301 or Sherine Kokado, Mammoth Lakes Foundation, Office Manager & Donor Services, at 934-3781.

AND FIRST FUNDRAISER—AN EVENING OF “LEGENDS AND LOVE SONGS”
Mammoth Lakes, CA – Mammoth Lakes Theatre Company (MLTC) is proud to announce the names of its Board of Directors, all community leaders from the area. Neil McCarroll, Sandra DiDomizio and Rochelle Hair have each graciously agreed to serve on the very first Board of Directors during the initial, formative year of the Mammoth Lakes Theatre Company.
“I’m thrilled to have such experienced and talented members of the community assisting me this first year,” said Shira Dubrovner, Artistic Director. “Returning to Mammoth after an absence of 16 years, I both needed and wanted the assistance of people who could help make this venture a success. I know that with the guidance and support of Neil, Sandra and Rochelle, Mammoth Lakes will have a thriving live performance space.”
In addition to announcing the Board of Directors, MLTC is excited to announce its first fundraiser. Titled “Legends and Love Songs,” the dinner and show event is planned for Valentine’s Day, Wednesday evening February 14th with time, cost and location to be confirmed shortly. “Legends and Love Songs” features the talents of Wayland Pickard, 2006 winner of the Los Angeles ADA Award as Best Actor, Musical. The show features Pickard’s award-winning piano performances as Liberace, Elton John and Billy Joel, among others. The community is invited to share a romantic evening of entertainment that also benefits the revitalization of the MLTC space at 549 Old Mammoth Road.
The purpose of Mammoth Lakes Theatre Company, a non-profit corporation, is to develop, maintain and nurture live theatre and other arts in the Mono/Inyo County area by providing creative space; producing live theatre of the highest caliber, equal to any theatre in the state, and inspiring the arts while making a vital contribution to the community’s economy, culture and spirit. An introduction to plans for the theatre and fundraising activities began recently with an Open House December 5th.
