Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce Executive Director announces retirement

January 24, 2024

Retirement announcement

Amidst the dynamic conversations surrounding workforce housing accessibility at the January Power Lunch, the atmosphere shifted as the executive director made a significant announcement: his retirement plans. Against the backdrop of discussions on community needs, this revelation underscored the crucial importance of continuity in addressing pressing issues. It served as a poignant reminder of the ongoing dedication required to navigate and solve complex challenges like housing accessibility.

"With mixed emotions, I announce that I will formally retire on June 30, 2024. That is one day before my 48th anniversary of starting the Chamber profession. On July 1, 1976, I started as the Manager of the Cortez (CO) Chamber of Commerce. As I told a family friend when she asked if I was going to apply for that Chamber job, “Heck, I can’t even spell it let alone know what they do!” As I was working at a gas station at the time, she said, “It’s better than working at a gas station!”. 48 years later I can say it was…well it was a vast majority of the time. It has been a rewarding, fulfilling, wild ride over those 48 years. The last 7 years in Mammoth Lakes have been some of the most rewarding! I couldn’t have made it this far without Erin, my beautiful wife of 30 years, beside me. She supported me when I needed her most and she kicked me in the butt when I deserved it!

I leave the Mammoth Lakes Chamber in great and capable hands. Brianna will be excellent as your new Chief Executive Officer! Your MLCC Board is strong and professional, and they represent you all well!

It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your Executive Director these last 7 years."
